Microsoft Finalizes Windows Phone 7 Code for Fall Release (NetworkWorld)
Microsoft announced that the code base for Windows Phone 7 1.0 has been finalized. The software has been "released to manufacturing," meaning that this version is the one handset makers will deploy on the first devices to feature the radically redesigned mobile OS. A range of tweaks and some changes have been incorporated into this final version, based on a vast internal testing program and feedback from developers outside of Microsoft.

HTML5 vs. Flash: The Battle Is Only Beginning (Internet Evolution)
At the Web 2.0 Expo in New York later this month, Complex Spiral Consulting founder Eric Meyer plans to discuss the potential for HTML5 to become the “Flash killer” that Apple and others believe it to be. Admittedly, determining whether or not HTML5 has what it takes to beat Flash can be difficult. Using [Today] in SharePoint Calculated Default Values (SharePoint News, Views and "How To's")
Despite the infamous “fake today column trick” still appearing in new blog posts on a monthly basis you can’t use Today in calculated columns in SharePoint. I’ve seen people assume (not unreasonably) that the same rule must apply with calculated default values used in columns that are not calculated columns as well – but strangely,  you actually can use Today in calculated default values, so I am going to explain why it works and how you might use this.

Hunting for a Mystic Error During SharePoint 2010 Installation (Dotneteers)
Lately I’ve been installing SharePoint 2010 Server for a customer. It was a little tricky, as the server didn’t have Internet access, so I had to do all of downloads manually. (Fortunately I’ve found this PowerShell script, so this “manual” work wasn’t so bad.) After a smooth installation of prerequisites, I tried to install the SharePoint 2010 Server in Farm mode, but after a few minutes got the following error: “Error writing to file: Microsoft.PerformancePoint.Scorecards.Script.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory.” Of course, I was administrator on that box with Windows Server R2 x64.

On Thursday morning at the BPC, Dux Raymond Sy presented a session on a relatively new topic both for him and for many of us in "SharePoint World": Gov 2.0 and how SharePoint is being leveraged as the platform to provide Gov 2.0 solutions to empower citizens, and to provide project transparency and collaboration between agencies and citizens.  This topic is of special interest to me, as I focus on the Federal Sector Sales at Bamboo Solutions and was looking forward to learning more about how the SharePoint platform is becoming a part of the Gov 2.0 landscape.
