New IE9 Screenshot Leaked? (Windows 7 News and Tips)
Microsoft’s Russian website has apparently accidentally posted information regarding the upcoming beta of Internet Explorer 9 along with a screenshot of the new user interface. The screenshot has since been removed, but not before ZDNet’s, Mary-Jo Foley was able to grab it and post it.
Microsoft's Big Bing Theory Targets Google (ComputerWorld)
With Microsoft and Yahoo officially teaming up in the search market this week, it's time to wait and see if this move could eat into Google's hearty lead over its top opponents. Microsoft and Yahoo announced Tuesday that Bing is totally fueling Yahoo search results in the U.S. and Canada. The search integration comes more than a year after both companies announced that they were joining forces to better take on Google, the goliath of the search industry.
Microsoft Cloud Goes All Out (Redmond Channel Partner)
If anything is going to derail the cloud-computing train, it'll be cloud computing itself. Microsoft's Business Productivity Online Suite -- the cloud versions of Exchange, SharePoint and other tools that Microsoft itself hosts -- went out for a couple of hours on Monday. A couple of hours might not sound like a big deal, but it's a pretty long time to be without e-mail or SharePoint access. And, more to the point, two hours would be a virtual eternity if a truly critical system -- something like an ERP application or suite -- were involved.
A Look At Hidden Costs In Cloud Solutions (InfoQ)
In a recent post David Pallman takes a look at the hidden costs of moving to the cloud, specifically in the context of Azure. Cloud computing has real business benefits that can help the bottom line of most organizations. However, you may have heard about (or directly experienced) cases of sticker shock where actual costs were higher than expectations.
What Does Windows Phone 7 Need To Succeed? Developers. Part 1 of 2 (Technorati)
The Microsoft Windows Phone 7 has been sampled by most of the gadget geeks, with some positive reviews; but what will make it stand out from the rest when it comes out later this year? Its applications, of course. Go onto any digital technology site and you are likely to find a review of the new Microsoft Windows Phone 7; many praising the clean look and the ease of use but there are whisperings that the Windows Phone 7 has been rushed out and is actually an unfinished product.
Gov 2.0: DoD, Agencies Pilot Afghan Info Sharing (Information Week)
In a bid to increase collaboration and information sharing among non-governmental organizations, military and local citizens in Afghanistan, the military and intelligence community have recently begun piloting a project to provide Internet access and information sharing tools to Afghan communities.

SharePoint 2010 – My Site Error (Liam Cleary [SharePoint MVP])
This post specifically relates to the following: "You have deployed the User Profile Service Application, Created the connection, synchronized the Accounts from Active Directory but did not set a My Site URL when you configured the Service Application". If you receive an error similar to this when you click the following link, you will need to perform the steps below.
The Project Leader as a Servant Leader (Perspectives on SharePoint)
The project management world is changing and today’s project leader must raise the bar in both skill and character to succeed in delivering projects and building teams that produce value for the customer. One way to look at this change is to see the project leader as a servant leader . . . and do it in five steps.
SharePoint: Filtering with Web Part Connections (End User SharePoint)
Have you ever noticed the ‘Connections’ option on web parts and wondered what it was meant to do? Have you played with it a bit, tried connecting one thing to another only to have nothing happen? Did you do a web search to try to figure it out and come back with results like “Connection Interface Pair: ICellProvider, ICellConsumer “ and then give up, just to assume that was something you needed SharePoint Designer to master (and you don’t have SharePoint Designer?) Welcome to the club!
Email Management in SharePoint 2010 #4: Records Management (Offline SharePoint)
Continuing the series based on the recent webinar that I participated with Colligo on email management in SharePoint 2010, in this fourth blog entry I’ll outline the new features designed to extend the Records Management capability of SharePoint 2010.

BPC: 'SharePoint 2010: An Administrative Odyssey' with Lori Gowin (SharePoint 2010)
Lori Gowin, a founding member of Women in SharePoint, presented a session titled "SharePoint 2010: An Administrative Odyssey" on the topic of, not surprisingly, administration in SharePoint 2010 at the BPC this afternoon. Lori, a self-professed fan of SF, cleverly referenced HAL from 2001: A Space Odyssey throughout her session ("Just what do you think you're doing, Dave?"), and warned session attendees upfront that this was "a session for admins and what admins can do in Central Admin with SharePoint 2010."

BPC: Best Practices in Leveraging Microsoft Project 2010 With SharePoint 2010 for Project Management (The Bamboo Team Blog)
What's the number one tool used to collaborate in projects? E-mail. The telephone is number two. Shame on us. —Dux Raymond Sy. Echoing sentiments from his presentation yesterday, Dux Raymond Sy emphasized that communication and collaboration are key to successfully using Microsoft Project 2010 and SharePoint 2010 to create an effective project management information system (PMIS) in Best Practices in Leveraging Project 2010 With SharePoint 2010 for Project Management.
BPC: Building SharePoint Applications with InfoPath and SharePoint Designer with Darvish Shadravan (SharePoint 2010)
Let me start out by saying I am not a morning person. I require significant quantities of sugar and/or caffeine to operate any earlier than 9am. But when I saw a session at this week's Best Practices Conference that combined my three favorite topics - SharePoint, InfoPath, and Workflows - I knew I had to be there, even if it did start at 8am (who knew there were two 8 o'clocks in a day?).
