Bamboo Products will Supplement Microsoft SharePoint Deployed across National Operations
Bamboo Solutions, the leading provider of technologies that enhance Microsoft SharePoint, announced today that it is donating more than $200,000 worth of products to the American Red Cross to assist in their mission to offer humanitarian care to survivors of devastating natural disasters. As a premier emergency response organization, the American Red Cross relies on Microsoft SharePoint to manage the collaboration of information critical to relief efforts across its chapters. Bamboo products will be used to optimize Microsoft SharePoint deployments on a national level.
In response to disaster relief work in American Samoa, a U.S. territory consisting of a group of seven islands about 2,300 miles southwest of Hawaii, the American Red Cross reached out to Bamboo after tsunami waves struck the islands following the earthquake in the South Pacific in September 2009. The American Red Cross sourced Bamboo for add-on components to supplement their existing SharePoint-based relief infrastructure. The purchase of a full catalog of Bamboo products, ranging from Web Parts to Applications was identified for use across their server farm. Bamboo responded with the idea to donate the full suite of over 60 products, allowing the organization to successfully accelerate deployment of SharePoint applications at no cost to the organization.
"SharePoint has been a critical tool to the American Red Cross in handling crisis relief efforts and resource management, and the addition of Bamboo's products enabled us to customize and broaden our use of SharePoint and helped the Red Cross carry out its humanitarian mission," said Matt Ross, Sr. Director, Preparedness, Health and Safety Services and Chapter IT Programs.
"We want to make a difference to the relief efforts in areas like Haiti and the recent and historic flooding in the American South," said Michael Tanner, CEO of Bamboo Solutions. "With the longstanding reputation and capabilities of the American Red Cross, and as natural disasters continue to ripple through the headlines, we decided this would be a unique way for Bamboo Solutions to help."
Bamboo has made prior contributions to the SharePoint community by providing coupons good for up to $5,000 towards purchases at the online Bamboo store, as well as free Web Parts such as the World Clock and Weather Web Part a the Bamboo Stock Quote Web Part. Bamboo has also been a contributor to the Community Kit for SharePoint. For more information about Bamboo Solutions products visit http://www.bamboosolutions.com/.
